project 1 - part 3 (part 1)

Through this process, I played around with 3D functions in Rhino for the first time, which was pretty nice and seamless. When removing the shapes for the cutting board, I had some issues in finding the function to remove a 3D object's lines, but I eventually stumbled on to the ExtractWireFrame function and essentially just used that, and then trimmed away any unwanted excess then moved my shape to a single plane. I ran into some issues when making my shapes as aligning the curves to each other could look fine from one perspective but completely different from another, so going forward when running into joining issues I'll be checking to see all perspectives. Over all, I'm pretty happy with the state that it's in right now, my favorite addition being the little fish, I think it's adorable. I still have yet to print it, so I'll be doing so later this week hopefully all of this works the way that I'd planned, and I don't have to make to many tweaks.

This is a bit of the process:

On the base of the tree after deciding on my measurements got to just laying out my lines simplified to the rectangle tool. I had initially planned on making it curvy and using this as a base, but I liked the way it turned out so I kept it. When I had to go in and trim out any unwanted lines I ran into a lot of issues with overlap as the way I had laid out my rectangles wasn't very efficient, so going forward I will have to try and limit the lines that are being shared with my curves when laying out shapes.

These are my finals:

I tried my best to minimize excess space in my cut lines and made sure to add some hatching for etching, to help give a little ledge for the assembly. Assembly will be coming soon
